The long-term anti-corrosion use of hot-dip galvanized bridge mainly relies on its unique hot-dip galvanizing process and related characteristics.
During the processing of hot-dip galvanized bridge, the steel substrate is completely immersed in high-temperature zinc solution, forming a uniform and highly adhesive layer of zinc iron alloy and pure zinc on the surface of the steel. This zinc layer first serves as a physical isolation, separating the bridge substrate from corrosive media such as air, moisture, acid and alkali salts, preventing direct contact with the substrate metal and thus avoiding corrosion reactions.
The chemical properties of zinc are more reactive than iron. In corrosive environments, even if there is slight damage to the surface of the zinc layer, zinc will preferentially undergo oxidation reactions, forming a dense zinc oxide protective film to further prevent the corrosion of the substrate by the corrosive medium. This sacrificial electrochemical protection mechanism is an important guarantee for the long-term anti-corrosion of hot-dip galvanized bridge structures.
From the perspective of installation and use, the correct installation method can reduce damage to the zinc layer of the bridge and ensure its integrity. For example, during installation, avoid using sharp tools to excessively tap or scratch the bridge frame to prevent damage to the zinc layer. At the same time, plan the direction and layout of the cable tray reasonably to avoid it being located in areas with water accumulation, humidity, or severe chemical pollution, and reduce the risk of corrosion.
In daily maintenance, regularly inspect hot-dip galvanized cable trays to see if there are any peeling, bubbling, rusting, or other phenomena on the zinc layer. For minor damage areas, timely repair can be carried out, such as using zinc rich coating for local brushing to supplement the protective ability of the zinc layer. For severely damaged areas, partial repair or replacement of components can be adopted to ensure that the overall anti-corrosion performance of the bridge is not affected. Through the synergistic effect of the above measures, hot-dip galvanized cable trays can effectively resist corrosion for a long time, ensure the safe and stable transmission of power lines, communication lines, etc., extend their service life, reduce maintenance and replacement costs caused by corrosion, and play an important role in anti-corrosion in the laying of various industrial and civil building lines.
